Hawaii Candy has been serving the islands since 1933. This is when Soichi Ohta, founder of the company, and his wife Kinuyo opened a small neighborhood factory. From there this company has blossomed. In 1941, Soichi went on to purchase the Nakano Candy Factory, which he then renamed the Ohta Candy Factory. Then in 1954 he purchased what is now known as Hawaii Candy. This company now has two locations: one on Liliha Street which sells both Senbei and candy and the other on Nuuanu which only sells candy. Regardless of the time or location, preserving the recipes and maintaining the quality of its products has always been a priority for Hawaii Candy. This is why only the finest and the freshest ingredients are used.
